The Turkish Airlines A321 was parked at its gate when it got struck by the A330, but the security camera footage shows that the Turkish plane was positioned too close to the taxiway when the contact happened

Taken on May 13, 2018, the video in this post features an Asiana Airlines Airbus A330 slicing through the vertical stabilizer of a Turkish Airlines Airbus A321 at Istanbul’s Ataturk International Airport, causing damage to both jets and a small fire to break out on the Turkish plane.

The mishap took place while the Korean A330 was taxing prior to a scheduled departure to South Korea’s Incheon International Airport.

The Turkish Airlines A321 was parked at its gate when it got struck by the A330, but the security camera footage shows that the Turkish plane was positioned too close to the taxiway when the contact happened.

No injuries were reported, but passengers have faced flight delays.

An investigation has started to determine the cause of the incident.
